Lynn Weiss
Lynn Weiss was the second wife of NFL hall of famer, Nick Buoniconti -who passed away aged 78.
Lynn’s husband is widely known for helping lead the Miami Dolphins to the only perfect season in NFL history.
Originally from Springfield, Massachusetts, Buoniconti was considered small at linebacker at 5 feet, 11 inches.
He was drafted out of Notre Dame in 1962 by the then-Boston Patriots in the 13th round of the American Football League draft. He spent seven seasons with the Patriots before joining the Dolphins in 1969, the year before the AFL merged with the NFL.
He co-captained the Dolphins to three straight Super Bowl seasons, including the league’s only perfect campaign, 17-0 in 1972. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.
Off the field, Nick was an attorney, sports agent, president of US Tobacco and a co-host of HBO’s “Inside the NFL.” The Miami Dolphins great had previously been diagnosed with dementia.
Nick is survived by three adult children and his second wife, Lynn Weiss.
Nick and Lynn Weiss became husband and wife in 2000. He was previously married to first wife Teresa ‘Terry’ Marie Salamano -a nurse and his high school sweetheart. The couple split in 1997 following 35-years of marriage. From his first marriage Nick produced three children, sons Marc Buoniconti and Nicholas Buoniconti III -and daughter Gina Marie.
His son Marc -was tragically left paralyzed from the shoulders down making a tackle for The Citadel in 1985.
Lynn Weiss, his wife of 19-years -met Nick in 1995 at Dakota, a bar on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Lynn who was 12 years his junior was the owner of a successful travel business. An entrepreneur at heart, Lynn most recently owned and operated French antique and gift stores for two decades in Bridgehampton and Southampton, NY. Lynn studied French at Cedar Crest College and spent six years in public education before launching her business career.
When the couple met Nick was still married and according to an SI article, Terry was furious when she found out about Lynn and Nick’s extramarital relationship.
Lynn Weiss or Lynn Buoniconti was also previously married. From her first marriage she has a son, Justin who in 2008 was assaulted outside a Cambridge, Mass., bar and nearly died of a traumatic brain injury.
