On February 28th, 1984, a star was born in New York City, USA, and that star was no other than Noureen Ahmed. Her Indian Muslim parents had immigrated from Pune, India, and would later raise the family in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Noureen’s upbringing was rather strict, as drama courses were off the table in high school. But she did manage to attend Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, where she studied Theatre and International Relations, spending her summer breaks touring with an Atlanta Theatre group.
Shortly after graduating, she relocated to Los Angeles, aiming to pursue an acting career, which quickly got off the ground with a reading role in The Academy Award-winning short musical, the West Bank Story.
Noureen parents are Gujarati Indian Muslims and raised their daughters following the customs of the Nizari Isma’ili. She shared that she could fluently speak Gujarati, Hindi, and Urdu during a phone interview for IANS, and declared her love for Bollywood as she grew up watching Bollywood films.
