Lynn Weiss was the second wife of NFL Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti – who passed away aged 78.
Lynn’s husband is widely known for helping lead the Miami Dolphins to the only perfect NFL history season. Nick is survived by three adult children and his second wife, Lynn Weiss.
Originally from Springfield, Massachusetts, Buoniconti was considered small at linebacker at 5 feet, 11 inches.
He was drafted out of Notre Dame in 1962 by the then-Boston Patriots in the 13th round of the American Football League draft. He spent seven seasons with the Patriots before joining the Dolphins in 1969, the year before the AFL merged with the NFL.
He co-captained the Dolphins to three straight Super Bowl seasons, including the only perfect campaign, 17-0 in 1972. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.
Off the field, Nick was an attorney, sports agent, president of US Tobacco, and a co-host of HBO’s “Inside the NFL.” The Miami Dolphins great had previously been diagnosed with dementia.

An entrepreneur at heart, Lynn most recently owned and operated French antique and gift stores for two decades in Bridgehampton and Southampton, NY. Lynn studied French at Cedar Crest College and spent six years in public education before launching her business career.

Nick was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Nicholas Anthony Buoniconti Sr. and Pasqualina Mercolino. His parents ran a bakery in Massachusetts, and Nick went to Cathedral High School. He later went to Notre Dame and graduated from there. He was drafted in the 13th round of the AFL draft in 1962 and has never looked back ever since. He later married his high school sweetheart Terry and had three kids with her.

Due to this, Nick decided to donate his brain and raise funds for CLE research. Since CLE was not curable, Nick had a huge heart who wanted to help people dealing with CLE. He initiated raising research funds so that the future generation gets a solution to this problem.

The Buoniconti Foundation is a Miami Project undertaken by Nick to cure paralysis. It aims to build awareness surrounding paralysis and raise funds to help people suffering from it.
He founded this non-profit organization when his son Marc was paralyzed while playing football. This initiative by Nick Buoniconti is to cure paralysis and has raised $500 million over the years.
