Lachelle Jacobs
Lachelle Jacobs is the proud mother of NFL rookie player, Josh Jacobs -currently a running back for the Oakland Raiders.
Lachelle’s son is known as a star running back at Alabama and subsequent first-round pick. Joshua Jacobs was originally born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a three-star Rivals recruit as a senior in high school. He signed his letter of intent to play for the Crimson Tide with under a month until national signing day.
He was named the 2018 SEC Championship MVP en route to Alabama’s fourth straight appearance in the College Football Championship game. Josh won the SEC Title with Alabama in both 2016 and 2018. He won his first national championship in the 2017-2018 season. The 21-year-old was drafted during the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Josh had a rough childhood. At age 8, his parents separated and he and his siblings moved with their father. At one point, Josh and his four siblings had to sleep in his dad’s Suburban. Josh has widely credited his father with shaping his life and learning from him what dedication and perseverance meant.
Lachelle Jacobs and her husband Marty separated in 2006 and eventually divorced. During the time Josh lived with his mother, he argued with her constantly and accused her of misusing the child support his father provided. He remebered during an interview “My father would give her a stack of money,” “She would go out and spend it and we’d be eating Salvation Army food. I would ask her how she could go spend that money and not have good food for us to eat. She didn’t like that, how I rebelled and spoke up. So, she kicked me out.”
Josh and his siblings eventually moved in with his father who was granted custody of the four children. Marty worked in local warehouses doing shipping and receiving.
Lachelle Jacobs and her NFL star son, don’t appear to close -however she gave a speech back in 2016 when at the time he signed with Alabama.
