As some background info, the Mavericks’ head coach is one of the only 11 people that have won an NBA championship both as a player and coach. He was born on October 27, 1959, and is an Ogdensburg, New York native.
Donna’s hubby is known for being fined $25k for criticizing the referees and following a just-as-physical battle, so he decided to avoid this and once used a piece of tape to cover his mouth at a postgame podium.
The head coach’s wife is a pediatrician he met during his playing days. The couple got married in 2000 and have a cute 12-year-old daughter named Abby. The marriage revealed in an interview in 2011 that they decided to not overexpose their child to professional sports’ glare, so Mr. Carlisle takes her to American Airlines center one or two weekend days per month.
Donna graduated from a medical school at Georgetown and did a three-year pediatric residency in Philadelphia. She has worked at Riley Hospital Indianapolis and the University School of Medicine.
