Juanika Ellis is the beautiful wife of the NBA player Monta Ellis, who’s a point guard/shooting guard with the Indiana Pacers. He was selected by the Golden State Warriors, just after high school, in the 40th overall pick of the 2005 NBA draft. Keep reading to learn more about Juanika!
There are a few things you should know about Mr. Ellis before meeting his wife:
Monta Ellis was born on October 26, 1985. He’s originally from Jackson, Mississippi, and his parents are Rosa Ellis and Marcella Singleton. Mrs. Ellis played junior college basketball at Lanier High School. Monta has two siblings.
The Pacers’ point guard attended Lanier High School, where he was named Parade Magazine High School Player of the Year 2005. He was also entitled a USA Today All-American during his senior year. Ellis decided to enter the 2005 NBA draft after being committed to Mississippi State University.
Monta played for the Warriors from 2005 to 2012, when he decided to go on and play with the Milwaukee Bucks that same year. The point guard played one full season with the Bucks before signing with the Dallas Mavericks in 2013. The NBA player became a free agent in 2015 before signing with the Pacers a four-year, $44 million contract with the team on July 2015. Rivals.com considered Monta a five-star recruit, listing him in 2005 as the #2 shooting guard and the #3 player in the country. Mr. Ellis is an avid fisherman while he’s not an NBA star!
Juanika Ellis (née. Amos) was born in 1979 (yes, she’s six years older than Monta!). The couple married in July 2010. They have two children together: daughter Myla and son Monta, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis met at a party in 2006 while having a debate about the Chicago Bears and Monta’s beloved Cowboys. Curiously, Juanika didn’t know she was talking to an NBA player until weeks into their relationship. Monta’s wife was a well-established Memphis police officer when they met.
While growing up, the Pacers’ point guard had a turbulent childhood and found peace in basketball and fishing. It was Juanika, according to the IndyStar, the one who persuaded her hubby to make amends with his father.
The couple was featured in 2016 by Essence Magazine for NYFW, but not everything has been like that for these two: Monta was sued for sexual harassment in 2011 when he allegedly sent certain explicit pictures to a former Warriors’ employee. The case was developed out of court.
The marriage lives in Indianapolis’ Far Northside, in a 15,000-square-foot lakefront mansion. Juanika can be seen sometimes at red carpet events with her husband, but other than that, she prefers to keep a low profile, but she allows us to see part of her life on her Instagram account!
