Clara Rivera
Clara Rivera is the lovely and proud wife of retired MLB icon, Mariano ‘Mo’ Rivera -who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame over the weekend.
Clara’s 49-year-old husband was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as part of its class of 2019. This was the Panamanian’s first year of eligibility, and was the first player ever to be elected unanimously.
Mariano famously finished his career with 652 saves. He pitched 19 seasons in the major leagues, all with the New York Yankees, and retired with 952 games finished — also a record. A 13-time All-Star, Rivera helped the Yankees win five World Series titles and seven American League pennants.
The legendary New York Yankees relief pitcher has been happily married to wife Clara for years.
Clara Rivera was born Clara Younce, she is the fourth child of Juan and Ana’s six children. She and Mariano met while attending elementary school in their native Panama. The two have been married since November 9, 1991.
The couple lived in Panama for years but made the move to the US in 2000, settling in Westchester County, New York.
In addition to being a supportive MLB wag for years, she is a dedicated mother. Together the couple have welcomed three sons, Mariano Jr, Jafet, and Jaziel.
Clara and her husband have also been heavily involved in philanthropic causes and the religious community through the Mariano Rivera Foundation.
Clara Rivera serves as Senior Pastor of Refuge of Hope -which the couple began in 2009 in their home. A small group of individuals would meet for a time of prayer and sharing on a regular basis.
The couple renovated a beautiful, historic building formally known as North Avenue Presbyterian Church -which was acquired from the City of New Rochelle, NY.
Refuge of Hope’s website says about pastor Clara “Clara’s has not only accepted the pastorate of Refuge of Hope but also has received a clear vision of what God wants to accomplish with this body of believers. With a humble heart and her strong faith in God, she is ready and committed to fulfill this mission”
